Annual Tournament

Dear Members

It’s that time of year again when we launch our Annual Club Tournament! The tournament runs from mid-July to mid-September with Finals day scheduled for Saturday 14th September 2019 (with Sunday 15th as reserve in case of bad weather).

Competitions are taking place in Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Ladies Singles, Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles so there is plenty of opportunity to get involved.for the competitions with enough entries we will be running a plate competition for anyone knocked out in the first round, and for the other, less well supported competitions we will likely run a round-robin format in the early rounds so everyone will get at least two matches for their entry fee.

The tournament is open to everyone regardless of experience or ability so please do consider giving it a go – the more entries we get the better the tournament!

Entry fees are £4 per person per event to be paid to a member of the committee or by online bank transfer. Sign-up sheets are on the clubhouse for you to enter your names and contact details or if you cannot make it to the club then please email to register your entry. Closing date for entries is end of the day on Friday 12thJuly and the full draws will be posted on the clubhouse by end of the day on Tuesday 16th July.

If you would like to enter the doubles tournaments but need some help finding a partner please do let us know and we will try our best to help you out as there’s often more than just one person in that situation!

Hope to see lots of you signed up in the next couple of weeks,

 Ceri and Gabriel

Gerry's Magnifique Chilli Night

Red hot tennis, followed by red hot chilli was enjoyed by about 25 members on Wednesday.

It was a great evening, (nothing to do with the copious amounts of red wine consumed).

Good tennis, good food, good company. What more could you want?

The sun shone for the American Tournament  which was followed by a BBQ on 23rd June.

24 people took part - with almost equal numbers of men and ladies.

Partners changed through the afternoon with 4 matches being before tea and 2 after.

The Gentlemans' winner was Pete and the Ladies was won by Annie.

Thanks to Ceri and Chris for organising this splendid event and many thanks to those who provided the delicious cakes, Pat B, Lego, Ceri and Alison.
